We drove (zig zag road to the top) up to Mount Coolidge (6,023 ft). Beautiful view!

Custer Park where we came upon herds of antelopes, buffalo, mules and they don't move for the traffic; you have to be very cautious not to antagonize buffalo.

South of Rapid City, we visited Bear Country USA, which is a drive-through park featuring North American wild life roaming free in their natural habitats: elks, wolves, bighorn sheep, grizzly, brown & black bears, albino buffalo.

The newborns' area: grizzly cub, bobcat, brown & black cubs, foxes.

Welcome to Historic Keystone "City of Gold"! Some of the one way tunnels and bridges we used. There were 7 of these tunnels; the smallest one being 8'4"W by 12'H.

Devil's Tower National Monument, WY. This is sacred grounds for the indians and they go there to pray. They always leave Prayer Cloth tied to branches and it is requested that these Prayer Cloth not be disturbed. Quite a few people were climbing the tower while we were visiting (867 feet/264 meters).

We also visited the Vore Buffalo Jump in Sundance where herds of buffalo were driven over a cliff where they would be killed, butchered and processed in mass by Plain Indians between the 1500 and 1800 A.D. An exploratory excavation was completed at the site in the 1970's during the construction of Interstate Highway 90. Less than 10% of the site was unearthed at that time, but the analysis revealed at least 20 bone layers which extend about 100 feet across the sink hole and nearly 25 feet down. This site is being analysed by Archeologist Students of Wyoming University and only few weeks per year.
